I have been a midwife since the spring before my daughter was born in 1992. I have been a registered nurse since 1987.
Midwifery is not just about pregnancy and birth. I enjoy well-woman care and encourage my patients to continue with me for their annual wellness exams and health needs such as contraception and acute illnesses. Midwives consult and collaborate with the physicians and specialists on our staff. I believe that when you establish care with a midwife, you are accessing the entire team.
Some of the services I offer include:
- Obstetrics, prenatal and postnatal care and breastfeeding
- Women’s health throughout the lifespan
- Gynecological care
- Family planning
- A holistic approach to health and wellness
- Health maintenance and disease prevention
I believe in listening and getting to know what is important to my patients as a first priority. I will recommend the right things for the well-being of my patients while developing a plan with them as the director and decision maker.
On a personal note, I am profoundly thankful for my husband of many years whom I have had tons of fun with and have received all the love in the world from. We have two grown children, a lovely home in the country and lives full of laughter and music. My daughter has a masters in Public Health, my son is a marine who finished four years of service and is in a program for electrical engineering and wind energy technology, and my husband is a PharmD.
We enjoy gardening, biking, hiking and raise chickens on and off. We press cider every fall and make gallons of maple syrup every year. It is a wonderful life!

Special practice interests
Midwifery meets both women and their families at a pivotal and challenging time in their lives. The midwife enables the woman and family to navigate crucial changes and arrive stronger, more capable, with a belief in themselves that they can carry into the future.
We (midwives) work with the mother/baby/family to enhance their ability to make the right decisions for their life situations; to be knowledgeable self-advocates, to belong to a team including midwives, other health professionals, and their community. This engenders strong parenting, life balance, and family.
I began working as a midwife because I know that peoples hearts and minds are wide open at the time of birth and during pregnancy and it is a perfect moment to enhance their self-respect, and engender the conviction that they are capable and beautiful people worthy of love.
Birth memories are carried forward throughout our lives, and if they are positive then that can only be good and strengthening. Midwives do not only work with birth, but we also work with women from young girls (adolescents) to advanced years and through maintaining healthy life choices and supporting health maintenance and screening we are able to keep those young women strong and thriving as they mature and age. It is a great job and I learn something new every day.
