I have been in healthcare for 22 years. I first worked as an intensive care nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. I enjoyed the fast-paced environment, but wanted the opportunity to build relationships with patients and keep them healthy to prevent illness. I figured out primary care in a rural health setting was my passion.
I work with patients to come up with the best approach for each individual. My goal is for the residents of our area to conveniently and confidently access to primary care services. I take the time to listen to my patients and I work to ensure every patient understands their treatment plan, how to manage their acute illness or chronic health concerns, or how to best maintain their wellness. In addition, I provide a full range of reproductive care including Nexplanon IUD removal and placement and shared obstetrics care.
I care about the whole person and believe in empowering patients. I enjoy creating personal connections that grow over time. Being a provider is not treating a number with an illness or a condition; it is about that individual person, their life, and what is going on with them. I understand the rural midwestern way of life and the need for excellent primary care close to home. If specialized care is needed, I will be there to set up referrals and coordinate needs.
On a personal note, I grew up in a small town in southeast Iowa. My husband, Neil, and I have two children. I enjoy reading, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family.
I ensure every patient understands their treatment plan and how to manage their acute illness or chronic health conditions, including:
- Family practice
- Women’s health
- Well-child care
- Acute and chronic disease management
I provide care to people of all ages, at all stages of life. From joyous beginnings to family planning, aging well, and a dignified end-of-life plan.
I am a member of the:
- American Association of Nurse Practitioners
