The Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital Foundation recently received a Legacy, or lasting gift- a contribution of life insurance. "As every gift is special, this gift is especially exciting because it’s the first gift of life insurance we have received since our Foundation was formed in 2010. Gifting a life insurance policy is just one example of how people can leverage investments for philanthropy," said Sasha Dull, Foundation Executive Director.

The donors, Chuck Simmons, American Family Insurance Agent, and his wife Marlene, transferred ownership of a paid-up life insurance policy to the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital Foundation. The result is a future gift to support the new hospital.

Fred Huebsch, Foundation Board President said, "Chuck has not only benefited our community by managing a successful insurance agency, providing quality service for over 15 years, but he and Marlene have given their time as members of several civic groups and have been hugely generous toward many community organizations and projects. We appreciate their support of these communities over the years and now toward this new center for health."

For their generous gift, Chuck and Marlene will choose a donor recognition opportunity within the new facility which is meaningful to them. In addition to this naming opportunity, the Foundation will recognize their legacy gift on a permanent donor wall, visible within the hospital’s main entry.

Regarding the gift Chuck shared, "Through a donation to the new hospital I wish to extend a token of appreciation to the communities which have supported me and my family over the past 15 years in Prairie du Chien." Chuck recently announced he is retiring from American Family Insurance, where he has been an Agent for more than 26 years.

The success of the capital campaign is credited to the employees, and a number of leadership gifts from community members like Chuck and Marlene, and the work of many dedicated volunteers. More than $1.16 million in capital gifts and pledges have been raised so far.
