Crossing Rivers Health Clinic Offers After Hours Well-Child Visit Appointments
Prairie du Chien, WI and Fennimore, WI – Crossing Rivers Health Clinics in Prairie du Chien and Fennimore, Wisconsin are offering after hour appointments for well-child visits throughout the months of June and July.
“Well-child visits are important to monitor for your child's growth and development and help prevent disease through routine vaccinations and health education,” shared Maria Mathis, Crossing Rivers Health Primary Care Clinic Director. “These annual visits can also fulfill the necessary requirements for a sports physical, a developmental assessment, health education, immunizations, medication refills, and evaluation and management of chronic diseases such as asthma or ADHD.”
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests well-child visits annually for children from the age of three to twenty-one, and more frequently for children under three. Annual well-child visits allow a medical provider to track the child’s growth and development and provide a thorough exam that can address any emotional, developmental, or social concerns. This helps detect emerging problems, and keeps the child’s health history by tracking past illnesses or injuries and immunization records.
Well-child visits should continue as the child enters the teenage years to allow the provider to address any questions the teen may have about their own health and address important questions relating to substance use, sexual behavior, and mental health concerns. During the pre-pubescent/adolescent stages of life, children experience changes in hormones, develop acne, and females start their menstrual cycles. Well-child visits allow an opportunity to discuss these changes, along with healthy sleep patterns, eating habits and food choices, and behavioral or academic concerns.
“As parents, we often bring our children to the clinic for care when they are sick, however, we can’t forget the importance of an annual physical for routine screening and care. Our team at Crossing Rivers Health Clinics understands that life is busy and it can be difficult to schedule appointments around other commitments. We are proud to offer these after hour appointments in hopes that they will be more convenient for busy schedules. Our team of providers is here for you,” added Mathis.
After hour well-child appointments are available from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25; Monday, July 13; and Wednesday, July 22. Appointments can be made by calling 608.357.2500. To learn more about Crossing Rivers Health Clinics and meet the team of providers, visit crossingrivers.org/clinic.
