Hospital news | Monday, February 19, 2018

Prairie du Chien, WI – Crossing Rivers Health is pleased to introduce a new after-school program designed to spark interest in health-related careers among 7th and 8th grade students. Club Scrub is a free program that allows students from school districts throughout the area to explore healthcare careers through informative and interactive hands-on activities. The primary goal of the program is to increase awareness of health-related professions and the numerous career opportunities that are available in the health sciences. Crossing Rivers Health welcomed the first class of students to Club Scrub in January.

Students have the opportunity to work side-by-side with Crossing Rivers Health employees and experience hands-on activities relating to laparoscopic and robotic surgery, giving an injection, performing a lab test, and many more tasks that take place in the healthcare setting. Students can ask questions and work with healthcare providers in a variety of clinical departments, such as: Surgery, Laboratory, Nursing, Infection Control, Respiratory Therapy, and Rehabilitation.

Club Scrub meets once a month, January through May. Fifteen students are accepted into the program each year on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for the next Club Scrub session will open on November 1, 2018.
