Grief Support Available Locally

Hospital news | Monday, September 9, 2019

Prairie du Chien, WI– “After the loss of a loved one, we experience a wide variety of feelings and emotions,” shared Haley Kregel, Crossing Rivers Health Hospice Social Worker. “It is a challenging process, and we all need a support system to help us move through our grief journey.”

A support group offers companionship and understanding from others who have experienced a similar loss, and are experiencing similar challenges that living with grief brings. Grief support groups hosted by Crossing Rivers Health Hospice typically take place monthly at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien and at Veteran’s Memorial in Waukon. During the months of October, November, and December 2019, the groups will be combined into one date hosted at Crossing Rivers Health. Those upcoming dates and topics include:

  • October 8, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Coping with the changes grief brings
  • November 12, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Using social media as a resource in grief
  • December 17, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Grief and the holiday season

“These groups are for those of us who are going through the grieving process following the loss of a loved one,” added Brittney Miller, Crossing Rivers Health Hospice Social Worker. “You have the opportunity to share feelings and experiences. If you do not wish to share anything, this is respected as well.”
