Crossing Rivers Health Foundation Recognizes Artist’s Talents, Generosity

The Crossing Rivers Health Foundation is proud to showcase local artwork in the Healing Art Gallery, located at Crossing Rivers Health. A variety of talented artists have featured their works for sale in the gallery over the years, brightening and beautifying the walls of the local hospital for patients, visitors, and staff to enjoy.
One local artist recently drew much attention to her artwork and the gallery. Jean Frey is an 85 year-old great grandmother who taught herself to paint. During the peak of the COVID pandemic, Jean kept herself busy and safe at home painting three to five pieces each week, totaling nearly 30 paintings in all over a two month period. Each piece she painted was a colorful, whimsical, and unique piece of folk art that sold just as quickly as it was hung up.
“Jean has been the most popular artist we’ve had the pleasure of featuring here in the gallery,” said Sasha Dull, Foundation Director. Jean chose to generously donate all of the proceeds from the sale of her artwork, which totaled approximately $2,000, benefiting the Foundation’s General Fund - dollars dedicated for various programs and equipment needs at Crossing Rivers Health.
Jean shared, “I have been sheltering at home during this pandemic. Having a serious heart condition and heart failure, my health is compromised. With the help of good doctors and great medical facilities, they have made it possible for me to enjoy life, for several years now.” She added, “My family and I have decided that any proceeds from the sale of my artwork would be donated to support the Crossing Rivers Health medical facilities.” Jean’s sons, Randy and Ron, and daughters, Karen and Kathy, helped her with the framing and delivery of her artwork.
After sharing photos of Jean’s artwork on the Foundation’s Facebook page, Dull said she started receiving inquiries and phone calls from people who wanted to purchase the paintings. “It was amazing to see the outpouring of positivity resulting from Jean’s talents and generosity,” exclaimed Dull. “A big thank you to Jean for truly bringing joy to so many through her talents.”
