Laboratory Professionals Work Behind the Scenes to Get Results

Friday, April 19, 2019

Prairie du Chien, WI – Crossing Rivers Health proudly joins the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science in honoring laboratory professionals during the week of April 21 – 27 and every week of the year.

The medical laboratory professionals at Crossing Rivers Health are key members of the health care team and are vital in providing quality patient care.

“The role of the laboratory is to provide information that healthcare providers use to make life and death decisions. Laboratory professionals perform tests on blood, tissue, or other body fluids, interpret the results, and help provide answers for a complete picture of a patient’s health. It is estimated that 70% of all medical decisions are based on laboratory results.” stated Barb Welsch, Crossing Rivers Health Laboratory Director.

“Many are unaware of the many opportunities in the medical laboratory profession,” states Welsch. “There are many career paths from phlebotomy or assistant certificates to associate, bachelor, or doctorate degrees. If you have a strong interest in science, a strong desire to help people, are detail oriented, and like to solve problems, a career in laboratory may be right for you! For more information about medical laboratory careers, visit www.ascls.org.”

Crossing Rivers Health Laboratory is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No appointment is needed and test results are sent directly to your healthcare provider. To learn more information about the Crossing Rivers Health Laboratory, visit crossingrivers.org/lab or call 608.357.2212.
