Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Walk Scheduled for October 15

Hospital news | Wednesday, September 25, 2019

Prairie du Chien, WI – In recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance month in October, families, friends, and the community is invited to participate in an Infant Loss Remembrance Walk on Tuesday, October 15 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Crossing Rivers Health.

“Any individual who has lost a child becomes an involuntary member of a team that no one wants to be on,” shared Emily Wetter, Crossing Rivers Health Social Worker and Remembrance Walk Coordinator. “On this special day of love, support, and remembrance, the walk is a time to not only reflect on loss, but to also embrace love and healing. At 6:00 p.m., we encourage individuals to join us to decorate a mason jar that we will provide in remembrance of their loss. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., we will be participating in a nationwide recognition called The Wave of Light, where we will burn candles for one hour resulting in a continuous chain of light spanning and illuminating the globe for a 24-hour period in honor and remembrance of our babies. Following the Wave of Light, Pastor Lance Wetter will speak and then we will gather for a Remembrance Walk, which is approximately a half mile.”

Any parent, family member, or individual who has been affected by a loss during pregnancy or the loss of an infant is encouraged and welcome to attend. There is no cost and pre-registration is not necessary. Light refreshments will be provided.
