My name is Jessica Goltz and I am a Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach at Crossing Rivers Health. To get started, I'd like to share an overview of the course in the video below.

Class introduction: What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the state of being in the present moment without judgment. Mindfulness helps us to become aware of our surroundings using all of our senses to create peace.
Often times, we are stuck dwelling in the past, which can create depression. We feel bad for what we didn't do that we wish we would have done or we feel bad for decisions that we made that were not the best choices.
Other times, we are stuck worrying about the future. This can cause anxiety about the unknown. We worry about what could happen. This worry can lead to an increase in anxious thoughts that have a tendency to overwhelm us.
By practicing mindfulness, we stay in the present moment - right here, right now with neither depression nor anxiety.
Now, take a few minutes to practice mindfulness with a short meditation and see what it's like to be mindful and present.
