Newborn Emergency Telemedicine (NeoNET)

Newborn Emergency Telemedicine (NeoNET) technology offers the expertise of a neonatal specialist for newborns experiencing arrhythmia, trouble breathing and other conditions at birth. NeoNet is a team approach to comprehensive care and treatment for newborns in crisis. NeoNET puts specialty care right here, at our fingertips.

A neonatal specialist is available to our OB patients in real-time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This visual and auditory consultation provides access to a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

How does NeoNet work?

With a Telemedicine unit, a Gundersen Health System neonatal specialist can see and hear the baby with a stethoscope and talk to the referring provider, while simultaneously examining baby’s color, movement, alertness and respiratory function.

If an infant would require transport to another medical facility, the neonatal specialist will be able to assist with the evaluation and stabilization while the infant is en route. The Neonatal transport team is available by both air and ground transport, depending on weather conditions and level of acuity. The team consists of a neonatal nurse practitioner or physician assistant, neonatal-trained respiratory therapist and a GundersenAir crew member.

A partnership with Gundersen Health System’s NeoNet program provides further assurance that babies born at Crossing Rivers Health have the safest, most secure welcome to the world.
