Pulmonary rehabilitation
For most people, walking, getting dressed and performing daily chores are easily accomplished. However, for the person with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma or other forms of chronic lung disease, these tasks become difficult and sometimes impossible due to shortness of breath.
Although COPD is not curable, people with this disease can live a more active life because of their participation in the pulmonary rehab program at Crossing Rivers Health Medical Center.
The combination of strengthening, flexibility training, endurance training and education enables rehab participants to maximize their breathing abilities and ease the challenge of their daily lives. Other benefits include improved quality of life and decreased hospitalizations.
