Respiratory therapy

The Respiratory Therapy Department uses state-of-the-art equipment to treat and manage acute and chronic breathing disorders. Diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments are conducted by registered and certified respiratory therapists under the direction of physicians. Respiratory therapists are specialists in cardiopulmonary treatment.

Inpatient services

Respiratory therapists (RTs) are advanced clinicians in airway management establishing and maintaining the airway during management of trauma and intensive care by managing BIPAPs and ventilators in the emergency department and intensive care unit.

RTs are available in obstetrics for all c-sections, high-risk deliveries and postoperative care. RTs deliver high-quality care to patients on the medical floor via the route of aerosol and MDI therapy, oxygen management, and breathing exercises to strengthen pulmonary function.

Outpatient services

  • Pulmonary function tests
  • Overnight oximetry
  • EKGs
  • Sleep studies
  • Cardiac stress tests: nuclear treadmill, nuclear lexiscan, stress echo and treadmill

Hear from our patients

Kyle and Anna welcomed Odin into the world on July 13, 2015. He was delivered non-responsive. Members of the OB staff, Respiratory Therapy, and Surgery staff performed CPR and after approximately 10 minutes, Odin was breathing. Odin is the true definition of a miracle. Each year, the family stops by around his birthday to visit the staff.
