Early Montessori Education Prepares Children For Life, Not Just For School
From Mari Beth Valley, Crossing Rivers Health Director of Child Care
The guiding principles of Montessori education are the same across all age levels; they are grounded in over 100 years of work with children around the world. It is a pleasure to offer this unique approach to education for young children right here in the Prairie du Chien area.
In the Montessori classroom, collaboration is encouraged, independence is fostered, and children set their own learning pace. Another unique aspect of the curriculum is the manner in which all subjects are integrated with one another to create a universal education. The program offers educational experiences for children, including exercises for motor development, self-mastery, and programs in language, reading, math, culture, sensorial, practical life, geography, science, music and art.
Crossing Rivers Health Child Care in Prairie du Chien invites parents, family members, and the community to a Montessori Open House on Thursday, May 18, 8 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. to tour the Montessori classroom and materials where children, 2 ½ to 6 years of age, are encouraged to choose and work with developmentally appropriate materials in a supportive learning environment.
Families unable to attend the Open House may call us to arrange another time to visit and receive information and enrollment materials.
