Megan's Story

Our care team was absolutely amazing and helped us navigate one of the toughest yet happiest days of our lives. Things didn’t go as planned, but the team was on top of everything as it unfolded, ensuring things went as smoothly as possible and providing us with immense comfort knowing they were there to help.

What started as a normal induction, due to my high blood pressure, quickly took a turn that my husband and I hadn’t fully prepared for. Our baby wasn’t tolerating the induction and began experiencing distress. The nurses were quick to identify the issue and promptly informed the doctor. It was ultimately decided to proceed with a C-section the following morning to avoid any further distress to the baby.

The staff did an excellent job preparing us for what to expect, especially since we hadn’t anticipated a surgical delivery. When our baby was born, he struggled to breathe on his own. The staff intervened immediately to provide the extra care he needed. Despite their best efforts, he continued to have difficulty breathing independently, and it was decided he needed the specialized care of a NICU. Just hours after his birth, he was med flighted to La Crosse to receive the necessary care.

Having just undergone major surgery, I wasn’t able to accompany him, which was absolutely heartbreaking. My husband followed him to La Crosse, while I stayed behind at Crossing Rivers. In one of the most challenging moments of my life, the OB staff were the most compassionate and supportive individuals I could have asked for. They were there for me every step of the way until I was able to leave and join my baby.

I am forever grateful to every single individual who played a role in our journey from start to finish. Without their dedication, we might not be where we are today—with our healthy baby boy in our arms. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Crossing Rivers Health staff.
