2025 Suicide Awareness 5K Color Run/Walk
Contact: Sasha Kozelka
Support the community Suicide Awareness 5K Color Run/Walk to help raise awareness for suicide prevention on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The run/walk will be held on St. Feriole Island at the Lawler Park Firemen’s Shelter. Memories will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m., race start scheduled for 8:15 a.m.
The event is the result of an ongoing community collaboration between Crossing Rivers Health Foundation, Driftless Region Mental Health Coalition, Prairie du Chien Police Department, Crawford County Health and Human Services, Suicide Survivor Support Group, and Sources of Strength of the Prairie du Chien School District.
“This is our 5th year of hosting the Suicide Awareness Color Run” said Lacie Anthony, Behavioral Health Counselor at Crossing Rivers Health, “and the response from our local businesses, organizations, volunteers and community has been amazing. We recognize that we can save lives when we come together and break the silence around suicide and mental health. We run to remember, to support and to say; you are not alone.”
Walk or run a one mile or 5k course through St. Feriole Island, where you’ll pass through color stations and get doused with colored powder! No color is an option, too. The course is designed to be inclusive and accessible for participants of all ages and abilities.
Participants are encouraged to register in advance at crossingrivers.org/colorrun. On-site registration will also be available the morning of the event starting at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $10/person or $15/Family/Team. T-shirts can also be purchased ahead of time when registering. There will be limited quantities of t-shirts available on race day. All proceeds will benefit local suicide prevention and support efforts.
Local mental health professionals and resource organizations will host informational tables during the event. Attendees are encouraged to explore the available resources to learn more about suicide prevention, crisis support, and community mental health services. Vendors, please inquire if you would like to participate in this event. There’s still time and space!
Two local favorites, Dunkin’ Donuts and Culver’s, will be on site with free coffee and donuts and $1 scoops of ice cream. All ice cream proceeds will be donated back to the run/walk. Scoopie, the always popular Culver’s mascot, will also make an appearance to support suicide awareness. PLUS BK Photo Booth will be in attendance to create memories and help promote the message of hope and support.
