Crossing Rivers Health is excited to announce its new partnership with the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa, becoming a designated Breast Milk Depot for the region. This new initiative provides a safe, convenient location for women interested in donating their breast milk to support infants in need.
“We are honored to support infants and families in need of breast milk by serving as a local milk depot,” said Heather Corcoran, Obstetrical Services Director at Crossing Rivers Health. “We serve as a collection site where lactating women can donate their milk, which is then safely stored and transported to the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa in Iowa City. There, it will be screened, processed, and prepared to meet all necessary safety standards before being distributed to NICUs and infants in need.”
Corcoran added that women interested in donating must meet certain qualifications and complete a brief screening through the Mother’s Milk Bank of Iowa. Once approved, they can follow simple steps and schedule a convenient time to drop off their milk donations at Crossing Rivers Health.
