Crossing Rivers Health Primary Care Clinic Receives Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative Impact Award; Celebrates Primary Care Week
In recognition of its commitment to cancer prevention and community health, Crossing Rivers Health Primary Care Clinic is proud to announce it recently received the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative Impact Award. The announcement comes during National Primary Care Week, observed October 5–11, 2025—a time dedicated to highlighting the essential role of primary care in building healthier communities.
The Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative Impact Award honors organizations that have made measurable, lasting impacts in reducing the burden of cancer at the local, regional, or state level.
Crossing Rivers Health was selected for the clinic team’s leadership in prevention-focused initiatives, including community education, outreach, early detection, and patient navigation. Since joining the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative Cancer Prevention Taskforce in January 2024, the clinic has made significant strides, including:
- Partnering with Exact Sciences to expand access to colorectal cancer screenings.
- Implementing a comprehensive breast health initiative, including a defined workflow for mammography and follow-up care to guide patients through next steps.
These efforts, along with continued outreach and education, have led to measurable improvements in breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening rates, underscoring the clinic’s commitment to proactive, patient-centered care.
“Crossing Rivers Health’s innovation, compassion, and dedication set a strong example in Wisconsin’s fight against cancer,” said Beth Brunner, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Cancer Collaborative. “Their collaborative spirit, measurable results, and unwavering focus on equity make them a deserving recipient of this award.”
National Primary Care Week, established by the American Medical Student Association, serves as a reminder of the crucial role primary care providers play in disease prevention and long-term wellness. This award reflects how preventive care and early intervention—delivered close to home—can transform the health of entire communities.
